Henleys Jackets – Who is Peter?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

The very first Henleys jacket to be featured in genuine leather has been named after someone called Peter…

“Who is Peter?” we hear you say. We’re not really sure either. All we know is that the Peters Limited Edition Leather Jacket is possibly one of the nicest leather jackets we’ve ever seen. But that’s no surprise to us here because our entire Henleys collection is pretty awesome.

So we’ve decided that it doesn’t really matter who this bloke is. Peter is a nice name though, don’t you think? The brand new Premium range has in fact quite a few Henleys jackets that are named after (possible) men’s names – such as Hellraiser or Solveig. Or even Shizzla? Admittedly, no-one in the StandOut office has ever met anyone that we would refer to as Shizzla. Nope, we’ve all checked our mobile phones and there doesn’t seem to be anyone under that name.

Henleys Jackets – Does the Name Really Matter?

So, this really got us thinking; is there a correlation between product names and the way we shop for our fashion clothing? Would we look the other way if perhaps, a Henleys jacket had been named ‘Gertrude’ or ‘Margaret’? Obviously if you were sporting a Henleys jacket called ‘Dorothy’ you’re not going to feel at your most trendy…

Either way, we have a wide range of Henleys jackets and coats that are all christened with slightly cooler names – so that’s one less thing to worry about. You just trouble yourself about which one to get, because quite frankly, our website is full of the best stuff. Why do you think they call us StandOut?

We’re not too sure what the process is behind the naming of Henleys garments. It could be a very deep and well-thought out process with a world of meaning behind every stitch. Or it could be a quick and painless first-thing-that-pops-to-your-head kind of job. Whatever the case may be, get yourself wrapped up this winter in a stylish Henleys jacket.

Gio Goi Jackets are Vivienne’s Favourite

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Did you know that good old Viv cited Gio Goi as an inspiration – Vivienne Westwood that is!

We all know that Vivienne Westwood is totally rock n roll. She was married to Malcolm McLaren of The Sex Pistols – that just says it all. Her designs have always been inspirational and different, or as someone in our office likes to say, “out there”.

Winter is breaching and things have changed in the StandOut office. We’ve all invested in swanky new laptops so we can snuggle up around the fire and toast marshmallows as we update our website with cool new clobber. Actually, we don’t have swanky new laptops. And we don’t even have a fire. We all crowd around the only portable heater that we own (not the best) – but you get the idea! So the bitter weather has got us thinking about jackets and other outerwear…

Wrap up, But Do it in Style!

As Vivienne Westwood loves Gio Goi so much, we thought we’d take a look at our Gio Goi jackets and coats. We have a selection of styles, from sporty to biker, and casual to smart. We update our product collection on a regular basis so keep checking in for stylish winter warmers. There’s nothing more enjoyable than wrapping up for Christmas markets, craft fairs and a spot of jolly old Xmas shopping. But seriously, let’s do it in style. Just because it’s snowing, doesn’t mean you can slack off on the fashion front!

Gio Goi Jackets

The brand emerged from the dance revolution which swept over Britain in the 80s and 90s. Today, it is a part of our every day lives – in music, in the media and on high fashion websites (like ours of course!) So why choose Gio Goi jackets this winter? Because the brand was voted ‘Best Selling Label’ by The Face Magazine, and is also one of Viv’s faves! Need we say more?

Henleys Jeans: Fishy Business

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Trout, Steak, Cod Resin – something you see in your local chippy, but also the names of Henleys jeans!

Here at StandOut HQ, we’re back on the name debate again. So let’s quickly walk over this and move on. Yes, we’ve acknowledged that some Henleys jeans appear to be named after certain species of sealife. Our buying department has a right old giggle every time they start their seasonal browse of trade catalogues (what an easy life!). But Henleys jeans have a lot more to them than just fishy innuendos…

Henleys, Jeans for Life

Don’t know about you, but most of us here are pretty strict with denim control. We don’t take any old rubbish. Why? Because a good pair of jeans is supposed to become your best friend, your second skin, the one pair you can always rely on when all else fails. We believe that if you find a good pair of jeans, you can get by without having to shop for denim for a very long time! But of course, we’re fashionistas in the cool crowd, so our wardrobes speak differently – one pair for every day of the week. We love Henleys jeans, Voi jeans, Mish Mash, Wrangler and good old Calvin Kleins.

Henleys Jeans

We choose Henleys jeans and clothing because we like to think that our customers buy things that last. StandOut likes to stand up against throwaway fashion, because we’ve all been there – seams falling apart in the washing machine? Yep, don’t be afraid to admit that you’ve cut fashion corners during desperate times. We all have! But we all learn our lesson.

The Henleys Jeans Philosophy

Did you know that the creators behind your favourite pair of Henleys jeans are descendants of Plato, Aristotle and Socrates? Okay, not quite. But the Henleys brand does carry a strong philosophy of its own: The Henleys philosophy defines luxury in every garment, pioneering new trends, pushing a passion for innovation and a desire for unrivalled quality. If you live a devilishly luxurious lifestyle, you no longer need to feel guilty. We love the luxury of Henleys jeans and we say, “let the devil come out to play.”

The Pete Doherty Gio Goi T Shirt

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Our unruly and mischievous (but favourite) Goi Goi t shirt wearer is bringing back true rock and roll…

Either that or he’s just an absolute plonker! You could absolutely worship the ground he walks on or hate him enough to gauge out his eyeballs, but there’s no denying that the Babyshambles star looks damn fine in his Gio Goi t shirt range. Making it look as rock ‘n’ roll as ever, he launches his collaborative work with the successful clothing brand with a London gig. Would we expect anything less than a bit of mid-week stage diving and crowd surfing? Nope.

Posing in his signature Gio Goi t shirt, our trouble-making hooligan (let’s not kid ourselves – he’s no Hannah Montana) could have followed in his on-off ‘are they/aren’t they’ ex-girlfriend’s footsteps and taken a plunge into the fashion world. Rock music and fashion have always been next door neighbours, and it’s sweeter than Ramsay Street when they get together. Goi Goi t shirts, designed, promoted and worn by Pete Doherty have been increasingly popular since the famous rocker sported his very first t-shirt.

Gio Goi, Fashion Brand of The Year

The Gio Goi brand is the current holder of the Drapers ‘Fashion Brand of The Year’ Award. Gio Goi tshirts, hoodies, and other clothing are worn not only by the Babyshambles front man, but other rock stars such as Kasabian’s Tom Meighan, Amy Winehouse and the Arctic Monkeys. The exciting fusion of music and fashion has launched Gio Goi into the limelight, and our naughty boy Mr Doherty has certainly created a buzz about the brand.

Pete is the face of the Gio Goi section on our website and is captured wearing a navy and white official Gio Goi tshirt. Get your own…

Born: 1972 – London, England – French Connection provides cool clothes for fashionable men, presented in a contemporary environment and supported by fresh, fun advertising. Did you know?: Apparently the acronym FCUK was first discovered when a fax was sent from their Hong Kong store, entitled “FCHK to FCUK”.
