Euro 2016 – Classic Kits
Euro 2016 has now officially kicked off and is firmly underway. We have already seen the dazzling delights of Hungary, the defensive masterclass of Italy and a few tantrums from Ronaldo…
… So it’s about time we took a little trip down memory lane and take a look at some of the most classic kits that have lit up tournaments of the past.
FRANCE – Euro 1984
It would only feel right to kick this off with a French classic…. They are the hosts after all. This stunning kit from Adidas is a firm favourite of ours and it seems to be pretty popular with our friends across the channel. Les Bleus went on to win the 1984 tournament with Michel Platini picking up the golden boot.
BELGIUM – Euro 1984
The 1984 tournament was one like no other – with stunning kits coming from every corner of Europe. Once again it was Adidas that produced the design, but this time it was Belgium that donned the kit with hope of capturing European glory. Jan Cuelemans’ men however, did not have the same luck.. They were defeated by France in the group stages with Platini scoring a hat trick to help him on his way to the golden boot.
This Argyle print shirt is definitely a winner in our eyes.
ENGLAND – Euro 1996
How could we talk about kit classics and not mention England’s kit from ’96? The year we came so close. The year we thought football was comin’ home. The year that Gazza lobbed the ball over Colin Hendry and volleyed that screamer past Andy Goram… And yes, the year that he celebrated with the infamous ‘Dentist Chair’ celebration.
It’s safe to say that amongst all the drama of Euro ’96, England’s kit etched its three lions on to the hearts of every fan across the country!
For the remaining days of Euro 2016 we are going to bring you even more Kit Classics from the past. If you feel you have a gem in the kit locker, then please send us your suggestion via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
