How To Wear Deck Shoes
Summer is in the air and with the sun shining, where else would you rather be than by the sea? The nautical trend is back for the Spring and Summer seasons and with it comes the deck (or boat) shoe. The deck shoe is both practical and stylish, and has achieved must-have summer shoe status, so you can’t go far wrong.
There are many ways to wear deck shoes, so take a look at our very helpful hints and tips to wearing them.
The deck shoe says laidback and casual cool so keep it relaxed and go sockless. As a rule, the deck shoe isn’t a shoe that you wear with socks. Because it is a summer shoe, it exposes your ankles, and looks particularly dorky if you wear them with socks.
The Nautical Trend
The nautical connection means that you can wear them with hints to the nautical trend. Pair with Breton stripes and a pair of chinos and you’ll have the perfect outfit for a trip to the Riviera. A neutral blazer or a thin cable knit sweater makes it more tailored. You could also pair your deck shoes with a pair of denim shorts, a grey tee and a denim jacket for an outfit for when the temperature rises.
Mix It Up for a Smart Casual Look
You can even wear deck shoes for the office, for a non-formal dress code or casual Fridays, paired with the right outfit. Wear dark, slim fitting jeans with an oxford shirt and a skinny tie and you’ll have the look down to a tee. As long as you wear dark jeans and a grey or navy blazer, you can go for a bolder shirt. Don’t underestimate the power of a crisp white shirt however, as this can look just as good.
