J’Adore Lacoste

Lacoste is a French clothing company founded in 1933 by French tennis player Rene Lacoste. It was marketed as a tennis brand and has gone from strength to strength as one of the most recognisable brands in the sportswear market, covering everything from accessories to outerwear. With its trademark crocodile logo you will see Lacoste polos being sported anywhere from the tennis court to the beaches of the Australia.

A story you may find interesting about the brand’s logo, is that before one of Renés first tennis games in the early 1930s, he had fell in love with a crocodile skin suitcase in a nearby shop and made a bet with the captain of the French Davis Cup team that if he won the game, he would buy it for him. Unfortunately, René lost the match so didn’t get his crocodile skin suitcase but he did get a nickname “Crocodile”. René adapted to his name and embroidered the crocodile logo onto his court blazer and we think you know the rest.

The most popular item of the Lacoste clothing range, by far, is the polo, and why wouldn’t you love it? Producing a wide range of colourful yet tasteful polos, not only appropriate for sport, but streetwear too, Lacoste was always onto a winner. The first shoe was created in 1958, this was a simple, white tennis shoe and now, we couldn’t even begin to name the amount of different styles and designs Lacoste has in store windows all across the world.

Lacoste polos are fashionable all year round. Perfect for layering with a tie around the shoulder jumper in winter or on its own during the summer heatwaves. Its ranges of colours help to adapt to seasons and you could even team it with a blazer and transition a daytime outfit into eveningwear.

Whichever approach you pick, following these tips will help you build amazing polo outfits that are anything but boring. Start getting creative with your essential Lacoste polo shirts today.
