OK chaps… Listen up!
One day you’re going to wake up and age is going to slap you in the face like the thunderous uppercut of Anthony Joshua. The echoing sound of your alarm will continue to reverberate through the house as you stare glumly into the reflection on the looking glass. Staring back at you is a shell of the once handsome, virile young man you were 10 years ago. Mauve bags cling tirelessly under your eyes whilst cavernous wrinkles have ingrained so deep into your forehead that even the Grand Canyon is beginning to look minute. The baby like skin that covered your face has wilted and died and what’s left behind is a leather like exterior that would look better on the sole of a Patrick Cox loafer. At this point you’ll be left considering your options… A) Fly to Thailand to have facial reconstructive surgery or B) let your wife hit you in the face with a shovel in an attempt to reconfigure and improve the features that stick out of the front of your head. At the very least you may forget what you once looked like which will soften the blow and you know she has been longing to hit you in the face anyway.
The very first thing to do is to go and turn that alarm off.
Now, don’t panic. We are here to help. After hours of research and countless years following strict skincare regimes everyone here at StandOut has developed the face of David Gandy and we are going to share our secrets with you. So buckle up, take note and follow this skincare survival guide to save you from having to make one of those gut-wrenching decisions.
Select a male facial cleanser that suits your skin type. Cleanse your face twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. A good cleanser will remove any dead skin cells and prevent oil from building up in your skin. Your skin will fresh and rejuvenated after washing and shouldn’t feel too tight.
Exfoliate. Scrub. Remove the dirt, grime and dead skin cells from your face with a gentle exfoliator. This should be done approximately 1-3 times per week. Guys, if you have oily skin then you should do it more often. Exfoliating will help to keep your skin cells fresh and allow new skin cells to develop. You will also find that this will help with your shaving routine too as hairs will start to grow out from the face and it will almost eliminate in grow hairs.
Just remember – don’t go too hard with the face scrub. We have a tendency to be a little heavy handed.
From the age of about 20 our body stops producing as many skin proteins (collagen), which means that our skin cells can hold less water. This is when wrinkles occur. Apply moisturizer in the morning and just before you go to sleep to keep your skin firm and to replenish nutrients straight into the cells in your face.
Prevention is most certainly better than cure. With these three simple steps to follow each week you will be well on the road to keeping your skin in tip top condition and retaining your youthful looks for as long as possible. Remember that your skin is the biggest organ in your body and therefore it needs a lot of care and attention so take some time each day looking after it and in years to come you will reap the benefits.
