The 31st of August is one of the greatest days in the football season, in fact, its one of the greatest days of the year. For on this momentous day it marks the transitional date between the end of summer and the start of autumn, it celebrates the day that Trinidad & Tobago became an independent country and it commemorates the great life of Diana, Princess of Wales.
However, this great day also marks the end of transfer sagas, rumours and excitement for every football club in the UK. Throughout the summer we have been hounded with a number of different headlines and stories that have had football fans on the edge of their seats. Sanchez to leave Arsenal. Barcelona set to steal Coutinho from the hands of Liverpool. Some of the rumours have come true, but a number of them have been just that, rumours. The key question on everybody’s lips this morning is “Have your club done enough?”
Unfortunately, the answer to that question can only be revealed as the season draws on and the results come tumbling in. Whilst it has been nail biting watching which clubs have secured the services of which players it is also important to remember that it is not only your football team that needs to make some transfers. The summer turns to autumn and the slight change in climate means that we are forced to make some wardrobe transfers of our own. So we are going to take a look at the transfers you should be making to stay top of the league this season.
Vivienne Westwood Black Left Chest Logo Vest – £38.95
In all honesty vests are only ever suitable on holiday when you are enjoying a day by the beach, so it comes as no shock that they feature on our list of transfers out this autumn.
Aquascutum Navy Hamilton Half Zip Knit – £149.95
As the temperature drops and becomes a little more unpredictable it’s a wise move to layer up. Try to keep layers light and easy to manage, the half zip hamilton knit from Aquascutum is a great example and would be a perfect fit for a day on the terraces.
Out: Chino Shorts
Minimum Khaki Frede Chino Shorts – £26.95
Whilst chino shorts are a staple item for the summer and we are sure that they will once again be an essential next year, it’s unlikely that you are going to be displaying your pasty looking pins for another 9 months. Don’t get rid of these completely, just let them train with the reserves until the sun comes back out to play.
Gym King Mid Blue Spray On Distressed Denim Jeans – £59.95
Distressed jeans are still all the rage and Gym King has hit the nail firmly on the head with this pair. The distressed areas of the jeans are not too extravagant, however, they do add a degree of urban decay to your outfit. This shade of denim is a winning combination with the half zip Aquascutum long sleeve top above.
Out: Flip Flops
Havaianas Black Top Flip Flops – £15.95
Once again, these are an absolute winner throughout the summer months and we don’t think you can find a more versatile flip flop than the all black Havaiana. However, the last thing you want is to be slogging through puddles in these as strolling home from a 4-0 drumming.
Converse Medium Olive/Terra Red Ctas Syde Street Mid Trainers – £59.95
It’s a no brainer that as the weather changes so should your footwear and white trainers will be a thing of the past before you know it. Unless you want to be forever cleaning off the mud spatters. Hi top trainers are extremely popular this season and we are big supporters of the mesh outer layer that adorn the Converse Syde Street Trainers.
The summer transfer window has now closed and a majority of the business your club can conduct is now over until January. But, don’t let that stop you from investing in Club You and taking the time to bolster your squad ready for the next big season.
